He was born in a family that has handed down Kinsa cooking (the school of Kinsa), the tradition of Japanese cuisine which is told to be born in Edo period.
He studied Fermentation in Food Procession at the university. After the graduation, he worked at a soy sauce company in Shodo Island “Marukin Chuyu” as a researcher. Later he served as a chef on a Dutch tall ship “Swan Fan Makkum.”
Recently, he has been teachingand researching Japanese traditional cuisines at “Yanagihara School of Traditional Japanese Cuisine” in Tokyo with his father Kazunari Yanagihara the head of the school of Kinsa.
He has been expanding his fields of work overseas: participated in International Food Conference “Worlds of Flavor” at The Culinary Institute of America (California) in 2010, and a sushi contest at Kikkoman Israel Office as a chair of examination committee in 2012.
In January 2014, he had given a lecture and demo at “Contemporary Kogei Styles in Japan”, which was co-sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, as a Japanese cuisine specialist.
